Trapped in My Subconscious Mind

The soul is our mind, will and emotions, or I like to call it our thoughts, choices and feelings. When life happens all around us, it registers with our soul.

We analyze the occurrence with our thoughts, decide how we feel about those thoughts and then make choices according to our thoughts and feelings.

We tuck away many of these experiences in our subconscious mind, never even giving them any conscious thought at all. This happens in a matter of seconds. Yet, these stored memories affect our choices for the rest of our life.

Our soul often attempts to draw our attention to these memories through dreams, negative emotions and bizarre beliefs. We need a resolution for them or to make a decision about them.

We can continue to ignore them and allow them to fester like a blister in our soul, or we can confront them, find God’s truth about them and find freedom from the trouble they cause.

The easiest and most lasting way to heal our soul is to journal our thoughts and feelings – uncensored and unorganized; any way they come to mind, just write them down that way.

Underline all of the negative thoughts. Which topic is the most prevalent? That is the biggest lie by which Satan is keeping your soul captive.

Pray about that negative mindset and ask God to show you where it came from. Is it attached to a memory, or more than one incident in the past? It may have been a simple insignificant comment by a significant person in our life.

Ask God to tell you His truth about this issue. Now, use that truth to help you to change your focus about the issue. Ask yourself how you feel about that negative attitude now. It should diminish in intensity.

If it is not totally gone, then pray about it again and take time to listen to God’s truth about what He shows you. Repeat this process until that emotion no longer bothers you and then go on to the next negative emotion.

This may take minutes, hours, days or even months. You may not get resolution during your prayer time; but it may occur when you wake up some morning, or while cooking a meal or carpooling the children. God speaks in His own time and way.

Prayer:

Father God, thank You for caring about soul as well as our body and spirit. You are our great God and our great King and You rule over every principality and power in heavenly places. Thank You for teaching us that spiritual warfare is a very real occurrence in life in this earthly realm, and for giving us Your Spirit to take authority over Satan and his demons.

You set us free from the negative world of thoughts and events, which plague us. You capture us for Your glory and You use us in Your Kingdom all the days of our life in this world and in the next. Thank You for redeeming us, transforming us and using us according to Your will.

Thought for the Day:

The object of prayer journaling is to persevere in prayer about each negative emotion until God resolves them for you and you are free from the tyranny of the past; you will feel lighter, happier and more at peace with God, yourself and with your personal relationships.

The Just Live by Faith

When we consider the sower of seed in Jesus’ parable, only one-fourth of the seed fell on good ground where it rooted and flourished.

When we realize the reception that Christ received while He lived on this earth, it puts things into clear perspective. If mankind would not receive Jesus when they could see Him, far fewer will believe in Him when they cannot see Him (Romans 10:14-15).

Most humans rely on finite, physical senses and limited mental powers in analyzing truth. If it does not feel right, then we reject it. Satan is right there making sure that the things of God make no human sense.

That is why faith is stressed so often in Biblical passages. The just live by faith and not by sight (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38). The unjust live by sight and not by faith. They mock faith and scorn those of us living by it.

Yet, we have more than blind faith. The Bible declared that the earth was round long before Columbus ever disproved the common myth that it was flat. Science is always catching up with the Bible.

Not one archaeological discovery ever disproved God’s written Word, while many historic finds prove the veracity of the Bible. Yet, people prefer to believe the lies, which Satan continually propagates as truth, rather than the Truth of God’s Word.

Unbelievers choose to trust in science, math and technology rather than in the reality of Jesus Christ. They believe in theories and hypothesis – even those with missing links – as if they are facts of truth.

Sadly, only one-fourth of the world’s population throughout the ages will ever believe in Christ and surrender their heart and soul to Him. Let us continually pray for and share our testimony with anyone who is willing to listen.

Prayer:
Father God, Jesus Christ generously gave His life to offer the whole world Your promise of everlasting life. It is for all people everywhere with no distinction of color, race, creed, shape, size or intelligence.

However, more people reject Your generous offer than receive it with whole-hearted devotion and thanksgiving. Pride and rebellion have always run rampant on the earth and self-reliance is the mantra. Give us opportunities to share Your truth with anyone who is willing to receive it.

Thought for the Day:
Good things are very often the enemy of the best things; yet, so many people are willing to take second best and base their entire life on it.

Hearing from God

Satan hates authentic Born Again Believers, because we spend each moment of our day listening to God’s Spirit and obeying His promptings.

The devil’s only recourse is to plant doubts in our mind about whether or not the thought in our mind is from God. We analyze the leading and often decide it is only our human thought.

Then, we end up in confusion and even regret, because we missed a great opportunity designed just for us by our loving Heavenly Father. We can quickly repent and then hear from God for our next moment.

When the thought is from God, His Holy Spirit who abides in us gives us His peace deep within our spirit. If there is any doubt or unrest in our spirit, we stop and wait on God to clarify His will for the moment.

The Spirit and the Word never disagree. If the thought in our mind is not confirmed by the Bible, then it is not of God. Satan will attempt to twist scriptures or make us distrust God’s Word.

As children of God, we do not live in fear or confusion, but in love – with spiritual power and a stable mind (Romans 8:4; 2 Timothy 1:7). Walking in God’s Will keeps us from having the anxiety and stress of a hectic pace.

God’s presence within us assures us of His will. His omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence guide us throughout our life, so that we can honor God in our thoughts, words and actions (Proverbs 1:7).

Prayer:
Father God, we dwell in You as our sanctuary (Isaiah 8:13-14). You are our comfort and delight. We look forward to serving You each day and enjoying Your presence now and in eternity.

You give us wisdom and direction each moment of our day, so that we can abide in Your presence. You strengthen us, help us and lift us up by Your mighty right hand (Isaiah 41:10).

Thought for the Day:
Living in the Spirit is a life of security, peace and fulfillment.
